Tuesday’s Word-From Ashes To Amen

Tuesday’s Word
From Ashes To Amen
2 Samuel 12:18-23

18 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
19 But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
20 Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.
21 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

What else can you do? You have done all that you can. You have fasted and prayed, prayed and fasted, but the situation still would not change. You cried over it and told people about it only to see nothing. You went on a cleansing thinking that this would change the mind of God, but His judgment was already set in stone. Your family and friends couldn’t comfort you, your enemies laughed at you, the one closest to you was dealing as well but it was you that it was effecting the most. What do you do?

There will come a time when all you can do, after the fact, will not be enough. When in life, things just don’t feel right but you will have to go through anyway. In judgment or in a test, you may not be able to change the situation, but you will go through the situation. Paul said that he went looking for God to change a situation three times, but for naught (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). Even through this time, His grace is sufficient for you.

Whatever it is that you are going through, go through. Whatever you went through, now it is the time to get up. There is nothing to do now but praise God. How can I praise Him when I lost my house, my car, my family member; the question is how can you not praise Him? Even in your losses, the loss could have been greater (someone will get that). But it was His grace that kept you through it all. It is over, get up and clean yourself off, put on your clean clothes and get replenished. A new day is coming and a new battle is brewing. Your ashes were for a little while, now it’s time to say Amen.
