Thursday’s Word-Portions

Thursday’s Word
Portions
Matthew 6:30-32

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

We worry too much about the wrong things…why is that? We take the little things for granted and the things we worry about are so trivial and small compared to the larger picture. But we continue to go around THINKING we have the power to control everything around us. We seem to think that something we are planning to do in three weeks will have an adverse effect on something that we are doing tomorrow. But let me say it this way…if we don’t make it to see tomorrow, what good is three weeks from now? There is nothing you can do if you aren’t here.

Doctors have set up what they call “recommended daily allowances” for certain things. As humans we are to have so much Vitamin A, Calcium Potassium, etc.; it is up to us to have it. It is similar to the portions of food that we are supposed to eat. But I want you to think of it as your portion of living that God gives every day. When taking the Israelites from Egypt, God feed them manna which was given in portions. The Lord’s Prayer says “give us this day” (a specific time) “our daily bread” (a specific portion). We need to understand that God gives and provides for us all; from the worm in the ground to the elderly adult in a nursing facility. Don’t ever think that your portion is too small. If He can maintain the ground, the fowl in the air, the beast of the fields…surely YOU are a speck of sand on the beach. But, He cares for you so much to meet your portions daily. Trust Him
