How Do You Value Your Seed? Pt 1
Matthew 13:3-4, 19
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
What would you do with a million dollars? Would you be able to handle it? Could you live off of the money; have a financial plan? Would you set some aside and do crazy stuff with some or would you just say “YOLO” (You Only Live Once) and blow it all? Understand this fact, most people that come into a windfall of money, will not have it within a year or two. Would you be able to place a value on something that is given to you; how can you make it work? If you don’t have the knowhow to take care of this nest egg, you will squander it like nobody’s business.
Most Christians will be “lost” because they do not truly understand the words of God. The sad part is we have been given teachers of the word but we are afraid to learn the truths of the Bible. We tend to live in our traditions, our family churches, our correct misconceptions because “momma nem” said it and if it was good for them, it is good for me. We are in an age where we can find more, read more and study more to get a clear, precise understanding of the word, but we want to stay ignorant. Proverbs 4:7 says “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”. No one knows it all as it pertains to the Bible. As Solomon prayed for wisdom, we must seek God for His wisdom concerning His word. Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction”. Some are fools and don’t know it; 2 Timothy 4:3-4 says, “for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”.
You may not have a million dollar seed, but you do have the word of God. You have the opportunity to make this word understandable so you can apply it to your everyday life. Just like the million dollars, you can throw it away or squander it or you can have a plan. You can put people in your life that have been through what you are going through to give you knowledge of their experiences. You can attend a Bible Study or go to school; make your word stay and flourish. Will you build your nest egg or will you go spiritually bankrupt?
