Wednesday’s Word-How Do You Value Your Seed? Pt 3

Wednesday’s Word
How Do You Value Your Seed? Pt 3
Matthew 13:7, 22

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Have the cares of this world or the color of success placed a cost on your seed? I know, some of you are thinking “has he lost his mind with this one” while others are scratching your head and even some are looking down. The fact of the matter is we have placed material gains and other items before our seed. How do I know…let me ask this question; how many of us have worked or are working on your Sabbath day? A day that is solely devoted to your worship…how many have said that the money must be made and my worship can wait? Understand that in all the money you can make, you will still have problems.

In understanding the verses, we are to be fruit bearers. Christ said He is the true vine and every branch that gives fruit will set to bring more; the one that doesn’t will be cut (ref John 15:1-2). If we concentrate on doing the work of Christ, we will be able to prosper, meaning obtain the things we need and want (see Matthew 6:33). But there are some that will chase the mighty dollar to keep up with the Jones’ when we need to chase the Word to keep up with Jesus. I was reading Scripture Studies and I came across this quote, “Riches deceive men because they promise all happiness and all contentment. Yet riches never deliver on this promise. In fact, the woes and miseries of the rich are well-documented (perhaps, too well) in the newspapers and tabloids every day”.

Will you continue to place a bounty on your time and leave your seed to the thorns? Will you allow all the prickly things of the world grab hold to your future earnings? Will you let man’s dividends compete with God’s retirement plan? Obtaining a house is good for the right reasons, but obtaining many could make you miss your mansion. Store up your treasures where thieves can’t break in and steal them, rather than exploiting them and making them your god. Your seed is worth more than any amount of money, no house can compare, nor any luxury car or other material item. Don’t lose your seed to material things, but grow it and invest in God’s plan.
