Everyone Won’t Like You
John 13:21, 26-27
21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
No matter how nice you are to people, someone is bound to mistreat your trust. You can do a lot for everyone you love and it will come as a shock that one may betray you. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first or your last; doesn’t matter if you gave them five dollars or five hundred. It doesn’t matter if you are speaking the truth; they will just not like it. You can do everything right in the sight of most, but it will be that one person that will try to twist your words around. If you buy something for you, they will twist it around to make others see you are “showing off”. It’s hard to please people that can’t be pleased, but you can’t worry about those people. No matter who you are sitting with, everyone at the table will not like you.
Jesus had selected twelve men to learn from Him first hand. He showed them great works, gave them great power, tested their faith and foretold the future to them. They were there when He healed a woman by His clothing and didn’t miss a beat on His way to raise a little girl. They were in the boat when He walked on the water and passed out the bread and fish to feed five thousand plus people. But there was that one person…boy I tell you. It was that one person that always thought of how to please him on this. It was that one person that always thought of the money than the people. It was that one person that just didn’t get what He was doing and always had their lips tooted up. Some of you have a person like that but I’m here to tell you to keep going. Don’t worry about them not feeling you, everyone at the table won’t like you.
Someone close to you is smiling in your face, but they can’t stand you…you probably know who they are. Someone that has been walking with you has been talking behind your back, but its okay. Someone has seen you do for others more than you have done for yourself and can’t stand it, but just smile at them. They are so close to you that they are dipping in your sauce. But I want you to know not to let it stop you. Let the hater have something to talk about. Let them eat and drink with you, because they will not have it any better. Smile at them when they dip in with you; it is a reason they are behind you (somebody just got that). You will never have everyone on your side; but you do the right thing in everything. You continue to be good and do good…everybody at the table won’t like you; but God will love you.
