“Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.”
We all have a vice that is not good for us. It is something that we know we need not to do, but we continue willingly or by second nature. It could be something as simple as biting your nails, but it is something. Most people know what they can and can’t eat but if it tastes good, they are going to eat and pay later. It is something that can bring on high-blood pressure or an allergic reaction to our bodies…but it is something about that food that entices us. We have had it for so long or we didn’t know we were allergic until something happened, but we were already hooked on the taste. But now is the time to let it go…we have been waddling and wrestling with it for far too long. It’s time to turn from it and don’t go there again.
Verse 14 tells us not to even entertain the thoughts…don’t take the path or stand in the way of evil men. Verse 16 says that they (evil men) don’t sleep until they get someone in their grasp. Just like the “habit” that you may have, when it’s time to have what you crave, you don’t care what time it is. You don’t care what you have to do, where you have to go, how much it is…somebody knows what I’m talking about, all you want is what you want. I hear young people say “yeah, I smoke marijuana but it’s not addictive”; well, if you keep smoking long enough it will become something. Not only that, you could be smoking something else IN the marijuana that can become addictive. I have seen some friends become addicted to harder things and eventually lose their minds from starting with “just weed”. He clearly wants us to avoid the situation…simply DON’T GO THERE. But you know yall are to hardheaded to listen. In this simple verse, He gives us four different things to do…how many of us did the FIRST one? Leave it alone…don’t go where it is. Stop being nosey; it doesn’t concern you, don’t go there.
If you haven’t started a bad habit, don’t go there. If you have a bad habit, try to avoid it, don’t go there. Yes, I know it’s easier said than done. I am not the cleanest person in the world; “for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. Yes, I know the road is hard, but you can conquer ANYTHING you set your mind to do. If you are a smoker and you want to break the habit, why would you hang with smokers? You have to change some things to get to the place you want to be. You can’t be a millionaire business with thousand dollar ideas. You have to set your mind to do million dollar things. Leave it alone, don’t go near it, turn your back from it…DON’T GO THERE.
